General Summary:

Under minimal direction, supports activities related to the administration of the Corporate Giving Program, DG Employee Assistance Foundation, DG Literacy Foundation, Public Relations and Government Affairs.

Job Details

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Field telephone calls from stores and customers requesting grant information.
  • Review grant applications to ensure applications meet requirements.
  • Ensure that proposals are entered into the grant database in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of donor communications, press releases, social content and check presentations.
  • Coordinate communications with nonprofit organizations, other outside entities and internal partners including the drafting of letters, sharing of guidelines, reviewing of applications.
  • Assist with the issuance of in-kind donations and maintain database on those donations. 
  • Coordinate efforts to help the department run efficiently including calendar/schedule management, meeting planning, invoice processing, travel planning, etc.
  • Support planning and coordination of volunteer activities:
    • Assist with recruitment of Dollar General employees for company volunteer activities.
    • Create and distribute thank you correspondence to all volunteer program participants after corporate volunteer projects.
    • Coordinate guest speakers for quarterly CSR luncheons.
  • Create reports on charitable activities as requested. 

Qualifications

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Well-developed professional and presentation skills
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

Work Experience &/or Education:

  • High school education is required.
  • College degree in marketing, public relations, social work or nonprofit management preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience that would provide the required skills and knowledge for successful performance will be considered.
