Job Details

General Summary: 

Works with other members of the Merchandising team (buyers, demand chain, store planning, etc.) to develop rule sets/dependencies to maintain and adjust the store associated planogram database.  Maintains and adjusts planogram to store relationships and provides reporting information to other departments.  Oversees and manages the new/remodeled/relocated store process to help ensure the appropriate distribution of planogram materials.  Manages responsibilities for outside contractor employees who assist in maintaining database integrity.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Manages 6 contingent employees to ensure store to planogram relationships are maintained based on defined dependencies/rule sets. Ensures that each store is assigned to the appropriate planograms specific to merchandising processes (resets, updates, special projects, and new/remodel stores). Assists in interdepartmental data sharing responsibilities as needed.
  • Oversees and manages the new/remodeled/relocated store process by utilizing information received from Store Planning to help ensure the appropriate distribution of planogram materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the planogram attachments through database analysts’ assigned categories.
  • Analyzes current attachments specific to dependencies and exceptions. Adjusts and maintains the database specific to generating store attachment information relative to strategy books that aid in determining the best product assortments and planogram space allocations.
  • Participates in category strategies to help the merchandising department plan for future resets, specific to store counts and current category to sub-category relationships. Works closely with the merchandising production team to allow data flow into and out of the planogram system during merchandise review.
  • Works closely with replenishment and third party vendors to provide store lists for accurate distribution of both product and planogram materials.
  • Manages the overall footage change request process, which allows the database team to receive field-initiated planogram changes to aid in setting space-appropriate planograms in the stores.
  • Increased responsibilities based on database activity to support business growth:
    o Special Projects
    o Store Count 
    o # of Planogram versions 
    o Rule Set Planogram configurations 
    o Reporting support of tracking planograms 
    o # of formats/layouts to support 
    o # of direct reports 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office spreadsheet application; database proficiency preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with merchandising staff, co-workers, and store personnel
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Ability to be flexible and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to pay attention to detail

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office spreadsheet application; database proficiency preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with merchandising staff, co-workers, and store personnel
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload

Work Experience &/or Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with two years of experience preferred, or 4 years of equivalent work experience.  Previous management/supervisory experience required.  Retail merchandising experience required.  Previous experience in the retail industry in a support capacity that includes analysis of information, experience in space planning and floor planning is preferred.  Knowledge of store-level merchandising, retail analytical skills, and accurate writing, editing, and proofing ability preferred.
