Job Details

General Summary: 

This internship is responsible for supporting optimization projects to solve cross-functional supply chain challenges as it relates to end-to-end integration of the Dollar General Supply Chain, enabling scale and growth for the organization.

 

Duties & Responsibilites: 

This internship will focus on the following skills and timing (exact timing TBD):

·         Weeks 1-3: Learning LLamasoft network optimization software, building personal relationships, and ramping up on DG operations

        • Learning network strategy functional and technical skills in 3rd party software
        • Learning the DG supply chain and demand chain people, process, and technologies

o    Meeting / communicating with key resources within the Dollar General supply chain to learn about stakeholder’s experiences, roles, and functions

·         Weeks 4-9: Deployment of supply chain strategy project and network strategy use case; build network model to solve Dollar General supply chain problems, supporting the following:

        • Scoping: Building the business case for the program, identifying the program goals and timeline, and building out key project artifacts (project plan, risk log, assumptions log)
        • Data Analysis: Identifying data sources for key project inputs, executing data analysis and cleansing techniques, and data validation sessions with key stakeholders
        • Model Execution: Executing key modeling activities, resolving any risks / issues, documenting key assumptions and notes, and providing recurring updates to broader teams

·         Week 10: Presentation of internship and modeling results to broader DG supply chain team members

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilites: 

  • A positive attitude and willingness to proactively own projects
  • Experience in business, technology, or retail, either in a professional or educational setting
  • Persists in efforts (tenacious)
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills; ability to multi-task
  • Experience with network strategy or optimization engines a plus
  • Experience in data analytics software or coding a plus
