General Summary: 

A hands-on management position within the Information Services Department with responsibility for application support, peripheral hardware support and software quality assurance for Distribution and Logistics systems.  The primary Information Systems (IS) contact coordinating efforts between local and remote business teams, software development and infrastructure teams, and applicable vendors to ensure quick resolution of technical problems, quality issues, and to ensure new hardware and software meet the requirements of their user community.  Personnel management, team leadership, vendor interaction, prioritization of activities, and user liaison constitute the primary job requirements.

 

Dutuies & Responsibilities: 

§ Lead a team responsible for system stability and daily user support of TMS, WMS, VNC, LMS and OneNetwork applications.

§ Manage staff performing software quality assurance testing for Distribution and Transportation systems including manual, automated, and performance testing of associated applications.

§ Direct the configuration of systems and hardware to facilitate user training and production go-live for facility startups.  Coordinate equipment delivery for WMS peripherals.

§ Coordinate after-hours support activities between Information Systems teams, Distribution Centers and Import Centers, Vendors and any other required party to resolve issues affecting productivity at our Distribution or Import facilities.

§ Validate need for additional WMS hardware at facilities and generate Purchase Orders within the limits of the available budget to ensure needs are met.

§ Periodically review software support log(s); track performance and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.  Document findings and request enhancements from the Product Owner.

§ Review Quality Testing results of team and recommend additional tests based on knowledge of business processes or applications.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrates leadership skills: Mission, intellectual maturity, emotional stability and a record of attainment through others.
  • Possesses excellent oral, written, listening and presentation skills; able to translate technical language to business language and vice versa for personnel levels from clerk to Vice President.
  • Coordinates and directs third-party resources.
  • Ability to proactively identify business issues, researches options and recommends solutions.
  • Liaises with business partners and other IT departments.
  • Performs standard management duties:
    • Hiring and training employees;
    • Setting and communicating performance goals;
    • Evaluating performance;
    • Addressing gaps in performance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate knowledge of applications and hardware via phone to remote users.
  • Able to lead testing efforts and communicate results/defects to others.
  • Ensures bench strength and continuous coverage/support for a given application area.

Work Expereinece &/or Education

  • Minimum of ten years management and leadership experience leading groups of 5 or more people in a Distribution or Transportation-related setting.
  • An undergraduate degree is preferred.
  • Experience configuring both Distribution systems and related hardware within DG facilities.
  • Knowledge of multiple operational areas in a Distribution facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to use RF/Voice equipment to perform work in multiple areas of a DC.
  • Familiarization with Distribution’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
