    Job Details

    General Summary:

    Responsible for the creation and management of non-core, store level, allocation plans at the class and item level. This position works very closely with the buyer to make recommendations on merchandise allocation strategies and assortment decisions. Each planner is currently assigned to one merchandising division and will coordinate the allocation of all seasonal and non-core inventory within the division. Provide all data and analysis to support these decisions with a goal of improving sell thru and profitability while minimizing markdowns on seasonal purchases. In addition, this position is also accountable for the accuracy of the plan as it gets to the allocation clerk along with monitoring the product from DC to store.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Create, present, and manage the item level assortment plans and allocations for all seasonal purchases
    2. Provide store attribute analysis, item by bands reports, and class level targets for store allocations and buy plans
    3. Complete the flow plan by item, this includes the coordination of set dates and financial budgets
    4. Responsible for the creation of the “buying calendars” within the merchandising organization, key players in terms of compliance and communication
    5. Help manage non-core or seasonal inventory in the DC, provide analysis and recommendations for in season moves and adjustments to plan
    6. Assist the Director of Merchandise allocations in the development and advancement of new allocation tools or strategies

    Qualifications

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills, strong analytical skills, organizational skills, good communication skills (both verbal and written), flexible, team player, customer driven.

     - Knowledge of basic merchandising and allocation principles including store clustering techniques

     - Knowledge of analytical and planning principles for a retail business.

     - Knowledge of analytical and planning systems and tools such as ARTHUR, Data Warehouses or Assortment Planning

     

    Work Experience and/or Education:

    Bachelor’s degree preferably in business, retail, or supply chain or 2 to 3 years of Planning, Allocation or Replenishment experience in a retail environment.
