    General Summary: 

    The role of MANAGER, UX/UI DESIGN is an expert UX practitioner who will design and drive intuitive digital experiences for the Dollar General brand. In this fast-paced environment, the Manager, UI/UX designer will partner with cross-functional teams to bring product requirements to life via intuitive design, support the digital enablement of stores, and adhere to DG brand and platform best practices. A successful employee works in a highly collaborative manner with his/her team and across lines to innovate in the digital space. The UI/UX Designer should be able to generate UI/UX requirements when provided business desires, design graphic and interactive elements, and build UI mockups and prototypes to present to stakeholders.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Support the digital strategy through the design of engaging digital experiences that are meaningful to the customer, meet the end user’s needs, and align with the brand positioning and business objectives
    • Partner across interdisciplinary teams on related research, strategy development, conceptualizing, product definition, and design ensuring best in class design, functionality and process flow as it pertains to the digital or customer experience
    • Quickly conceptualize experiences, collaborate in brainstorms and drive innovative ideas
    • Take on complex problems and work toward simple solutions; demonstrate excellent communication skills to talk through and present solutions with senior leaders, as well as technical and non-technical personnel
    • Collaborate with front-end developers to innovate on native applications and new technologies; working in tandem to craft a seamless delivery process
    • Serve as a transformational change agent; embed ‘customer’ experience into everything we do

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

    • Advanced experience in designing for mobile and desktop, responsive design and cross-platform native applications
    • Understands and can speak to the end-to-end user experience – from the initial concept and validation, down to specifics of a micro-interaction for a feature
    • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of user-centered design methodologies, user testing (Multivariate A/B and usability testing), wireframes, user journey and experience maps, fundamental design principles and best practices, usability standards, and current digital trends
    • Significant experience in UX research tools, data, personas, competitive analysis and metrics to help shape user experiences
    • Able to effectively communicate UX/UI strategy and rationale to key stakeholders, and work with your team and peers to collaborate on solutions
    • Demonstrated Rapid Prototyping skills and Responsive Design Methodologies
    • Experience embedding user experience (UX) as a core discipline within the organization
    • Self-starter; takes initiative; able to quickly grasp needs, understand/break down challenges and attack projects without much direction
    • A passion for self-growth; open to feedback; able to hear constructive criticism and improve upon work
    • Excellent communication skills; able to work with a wide variety of people, positions and personalities

     

    Work Experience and/or Education: 

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
    • 5-7 years of experience designing web, mobile applications
    • Proven track record owning and/or influencing the user experience/interaction design of products, sites and/or applications
    • Strong background in user interface design and development with proven ability to create functional, usable and delightful interfaces
    • Experience working in an agile environment
    • Experience designing mobile applications
    • Attention to visual details
    • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with a team
    • Experience working with senior leadership, both in agency and corporate settings
