    Job Details

    General Summary:

    To provide for the timely payment of wages to employees, the timely disbursement of annual Wage and Tax statements and the timely payments and/or deposits to outside agencies.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Process all payroll information necessary to compute weekly payments for retail stores
    • Maintain excellent customer service by responding timely and professionally to phone calls and email correspondence. Department uses Symposium for tracking phone calls.            
    • Research and process void checks, register payouts, adjustments and unclaimed wages.  
    • Review payroll exception reports to determine the necessary transactions and steps to resolve issues in a timely manner. Requires good understanding of basic account principles as they are related to payroll transactions.                                                                                                                                       
    • Interact with various departments within and outside the company (Internal: HRIS, Payroll Tax, ERC, Legal, Human Resources, Accounts Payable, Benefits, IS, Store Managers, District/Region Managers, Financial Reporting, and Cash Management. External: Check Collection Agencies, Courts, and Attorneys.                                                                                                                                  
    • Perform weekly research for unidentified payouts.                                                                                              
    • Work on special tasks as assigned and cross train with other payroll team members              


    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Ability to keep information confidential
    • Knowledge of payroll tax laws and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
    • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll functions and processes including wage assignments and child support.

    Work Experience and/or Education:

    High School education with a minimum of 2 years payroll processing experience handling all payroll functions including fringe benefits, garnishment processing, and payroll tax laws in a multi-state environment. Accounting experience preferred.
