    Job Details

    General Summary:

    The Merchandising Director, Fresh Initiatives leads the planning and expansion of the Fresh assortment and merchandise in partnership with Merchandising and vendors. The Director liaisons with the merchandising, marketing, space planning, and replenishment teams to broaden the assortment and categories and introduce it to more traditional stores. The Director also leads Merchandising’s test and learns and customer research related to fresh products and offerings, responsible for the strategic development and deployment of initiatives to prioritize and monetize Fresh product sales opportunities.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Design and deploy a strategic framework for proactively identifying, assessing and organizing Fresh Merchandising-related initiatives
    • Lead cross-functional and strategic projects across merchandising, store operations and supply chain/logistics targeted at unlocking additional growth opportunities for existing stores through Fresh product categories
    • Develop a comprehensive framework for the test and learn of Fresh product and assortment merchandise-related activities. Serve as the Fresh Initiative’s subject matter expert as it relates to Fresh product merchandising, management and store presentation.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

    • Proven skills in fresh product merchandising, space planning, and retail concepts and activities
    • Strong project management skills with proven ability to work cross-functionally
    • Proven ability to develop and deploy a strategic vision to a cross-functional set of processes
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; good understanding of statistical concepts and application
    • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, be detail-oriented and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to summarize information into reports and presentations for executive leadership
    • Strong proficiency in all MS Office applications

     

    Work Experience &/or Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in business or related quantitative field required. Minimum 8 years in large retail chain environment (grocery / fresh products preferred)
