Job Details

General Summary:

The Sr. Director of Loss Prevention will have full responsibility for implementation of loss prevention and shrink reduction initiatives for all stores. This position will require leadership integration with store operations, shrink improvement, merchandising, supply chain, information technology, finance and other groups. The Sr. Director of Loss Prevention will provide superior leadership to a direct report team of Divisional Directors. The individual will ensure Loss Prevention is embedded in the organization structure and culture.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in the development and ensuring the implementation of strategic plans, practices and procedures to reduce and control store inventory shrink, cash loss, security and risk mitigation through the Loss Prevention field staff.
  • Lead Divisional Loss Prevention Directors and Regional Loss Prevention Managers across the chain.
  • Hire, train and dispatch field-based asset protection staff as needed to address issues that arise and gaps that are identified from the Store Support Center.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with law enforcement and prosecuting agencies.
  • Monitor stores’ compliance with established policies and procedures and report gaps to field operations.
  • Make recommendations to Sr. Management on ways to reduce inventory shrink and other financial losses.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Exhibits positive leadership behavior that motivates, influences and coaches team to success while balancing a relentless commitment to operational excellence.
  • Proven track record of producing results and meeting or exceeding financial objectives. This includes both qualitative and quantitative key metrics including (but not limited to) shrink reduction targets, cash loss, team productivity, and overall team engagement.
  • Ability to collaborate with leaders throughout the organization to integrate loss prevention efforts and to influence all parts of the business to recognize the value of making loss prevention a priority and enlisting others to take action.
  • Must have a high degree of experience with alarm systems, CCTV systems and POS Exception Based Reporting Systems.
  • Recognizes the importance of creating a visible and effective Loss Prevention team with a clear direction that can set and meet stretch goals to maximize team performance.
  • Innovates and experiments to solve complex store loss problems and improve results year over year.
  • Participates in developing the necessary data, tools and training to enable field personnel to manage shrink effectively.
  • Create a climate of trust that is perceived to operate in both directions (from the organization and from the individual).
  • Drive for results through helping store operations, loss prevention and other stakeholders understand the link between poor process execution and shrink / loss prevention risk.
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite, primarily spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software.
  • Demonstrates and enforces company values and ethical business practices.

Work Experience &/or Education:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Master in Business Administration or appropriate graduate degree a plus
  • At least 10 years of retail work experience in a retail setting
  • Process improvement work experience a plus.

Note: This position requires extensive travel with frequent overnight stays
