General Summary:

 

The CTO (Chief Technology Officer) is responsible for technology development systems, processes, software design and development within the company. The CTO plays an integral role in setting the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth. This role oversees our overall technology development and technology utilization plan and manages all information technology development resources of our company. They will be responsible for technology innovation, cost effectiveness, delivery timelines and quality. The CTO will also be responsible for providing technical advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures. They will promote the interfacing and control of the organizations present technology and the dissemination of technical information and recommendations throughout the organization.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth and monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage; analyze the costs, value and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions.
  • Identify, compare, select and implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs; determine our long- term systems needs and any hardware acquisitions needed to accomplish the organizations business objectives.
  • Work closely with other parts of the IT group and business to define and deliver new products and enhancements; use stakeholder feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology.
  • Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience.
  • Supervise product performance and results to ensure functionality, efficiency and value; monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

 

  • In-depth knowledge of web and mobile systems architecture, design and development.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology disciplines, including large scale project management, Agile development, enterprise and data architecture, strategic planning, system development, software acquisition, computer operations management, client support services, end user computing, contract management, and asset management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships between core functional departments and IT organization.
  • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy.
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research.
  • Effective negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of budgets and business planning.
  • Effective communicator, including strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think and act strategically and proactively

 

Work Experience &/or Education:

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; graduate degree is a plus
  • At least 15 years of experience in IT arena; 10+ years of IT management and strategic experience
  • Retail IT, including Supply Chain technologies is a plus.
